...Leo...
Fuming, I tried to concentrate on my little project. Decorating my new room. The house was buzzing with budding interior designs and I had acquired quite a few posters of 1950's to modern cars... and several good looking human models (much to Evelyn's dislike.) She had he own room though, and my space is my space she was do whatever she wanted with hers.
I had asked Aries before he left about receiving new rides. I was nervous about asking him... I am always nervous about approaching him. I did not understand how Ash, Viv, and Em found him so easy to be around. Their constant laughing and joking together was hard for me to understand most of the time. At least I had my Evelyn. They way he responded to me about new cars annoyed me so I pressed on. He reminded me of my little adventure with his Aston Martin and.. totalling it. I was upset he brought it up. I could feel my anger ticking inside me... my short temper, it is a time bomb. His words annoyed me... so I swung at him. All reflex, of course. I did not understand what I had just done until I realised he had neatly sidesteped my advance and gave me some stern words. He was very thirsty, which made him sound all much more mean.
I nearly punched the wall I was trying to hang a poster on thinking about this again. I was so irritated. I reached for the stapler I had in my pocket and pressed it into the corner of the car poster. click... and again to the next corner click- clatter... I dropped the stapler onto the hardwood floor of my room, spilling staples on the floor. I doubled over, a sick twisting feeling in my stomach. I held my arms to lower abdomen as I slid down the wall, comming to rest on the floor.
It felt like an anxiety attack. Without the racing beating heart of course. I felt nausiated. And I knew this was not a symptom of anything but my stupid talent.
I get feelings. If I feel oddly elated (something that was hard for me to detect however) then something good might be comming. I also felt fear and worry all comming out of the blue left for me to interpret the signs of. Some were stronger than others. Depending on who or what they concerened. They would come to me clealy, almost stating exactly why I felt that was the cause of that particular feeling. Others could be elusive... where I do not even notice it at all. This particular episode was not the case.
It felt like I was kicked in the stomach. My head swam. I needed to find someone, now. Evelyn wasn't here. She went shopping with some money Aries had left her. She would have been my first choice, she liked to help me figure these things out.
I stood and left my room. I wandered down the hallways looking for someone... Preferably Aislinn. I ran into Vivian instead.
"Where's Ash?" I asked, the pain not well hidden in my voice.
"I think she is in the living room setting up the surround sound, why?" She seemed perplexed but I did not answer her question. I ran toward the living room where there I saw a mass of curly thick auburn hair cascading over a short figure.
"Ash!" I ran to her, turning her around to face me by grasping her shoulders.
"What?" Her tone of voice nearly mirrored mine in confusion as she spun around and looked up at me.
"I don't feel good." If I could look green, I'd be jade. Aislinn's eyes lit with concern as she knew every word I spoke was true. We do not tell lies in this house. Aislinn was as good as a lie detector with a perfect record and Aries with his odd ability to see souls and the deeds that marred them... the lying option in this family was moot. "Where is everybody?" I asked, suddenly realizing that the place was oddly empty. Aislinn took me to the couch to sit (it looked as if she could not yet find its final resting place).
"Aries is hunting, Evelyn is shopping and Lyra just took off without saying anything." The pain in my stomach worsened at Lyra's name. Ash noticed and her brows furrowed over her brightly colored (if not for the aged milkiness that covered them) golden eyes. "Is something wrong with Lyra?" She asked, putting a loving hand on my shoulder. Emily walked in, some sewing pins in her mouth and some dark boroque fabric draped thickly over her shoulder, trailed slightly on the floor behind her.
"I don't know." I told Ash. My voice tipped Emily off and she came to sit on the other side of me, but not as close as Aislinn, stashing the pins that were in her mouth into the fabric.
"I wonder if the Volturi got to her..." I did not know Vivian was also in the room. She was very stealthy. Her strong voice an odd contrast to Aislinn's very well dictional and punctual Irish voice. I felt Emily cringe beside me. "... Those Cullens hinted that they were going to pay a visit, right Ash?" Vivian just stood against the wall, where her arms crossed at her chest. She stared at the floor (or through it, she looked deep in thought) competely motionless. If I had to say which of us actually looked like human's legendary vampires I'd say Vivian was a perfect match. With her jet black hair, tall thin, and very toned body, and her white skin contrasting it all... she always looked frightenting, even when she smiled. Maybe that made it worse. Aries still looked the most menicing out of all of us, however. His albino skin and hair contrasting with the only biological color on him- his red iris when he fed. When we were in public, humans insticively knew to stay away from Vivian and Aires much, much, more than the rest of us.
"Oh, a stór! Lets hope to the saints that is not the case!" Aislinn answered Vivian. I am not sure who looked more green now. Aislinn spoke again before Vivian could act. "We must stay put." She said, more firmly pointing her words to Vivian than anyone else. "With only about half of us here we're of no use. We must wait until Aries returns."
On thing was for sure though. Evelyn was not the issue. She was safe, shopping somewhere. If something were to happen to her I would know right away. I was so attuned to her. Even if something were to hurt her feelings 100 miles away I still would know. Evelyn was safe. I just wish she would hurry home.
