Name: James Christopher Mattherson
Nicknames: Jay
Age: 21 years of age
Gender: Male
Type: Human
Power:
Personality: Jay is very kind and reliable. He is always there for his friends, no matter what. He's a quick thinker under pressure. At times, he can be very quite and observant, but in truth, he's really a prankster. He loves to laugh, and often. He plays the guitar and the piano and is not afraid to admit it. He hates snakes, spiders, and people who betray his trust. He is not easily angered, but when you do happen to anger him, watch out.
Appearance: James is six foot one. He has dark brown hair, almost black at times, and big, puppy dog brown eyes. Sometimes, he wears glasses. He likes to wear hats, fedoras prefferably. He is almost always seen with a guitar case on his back.
History: Jay was born to Johnathan and Lucy Mattherson in a hospital in Clarksville, Tennessee. He had three older sisters, Michelle, Elizabeth, and Jane. He was a premie, and for the first ten years of his life he was very sickly. In order for him to become stronger, his father taught his only son how to play sports, such as football, baseball, and basketball. The Mattherson family didn't have much, but they had each other.
When he was twelve, a friend brought a guitar to school and played it for class. Jay was immidiatly interested. He asked his friend to let him play it. Amused, his friend did. Jay picked at the strings for a few moments, then began playing the same song that his friend had played for the class. Everyone was flabbergasted. A teacher saw what had passed and took Jay aside and asked if he had ever had musical training. When the young boy replied that he hadn't, the teacher spoke to his parents. Less than a week later, young Jay had his own guitar.
By the time that he was sixteen, he had his own band. He performed everywhere that he could, at parties and weddings, and at bars in close by Nashville. He wanted to quite school to become a serious musician, but his parents would not let him.
When he was eighteen, his father died in a car wreck. Jay was devestated. He moped around for weeks, not wanting to do anything. Finally, his girlfriend at the time talked to him about it. That was when he wrote his first song. He dedicated it to his father. When his band performed it live for the first time, everyone loved it. His band was offered a record deal. Unsure, he talked to his family about it. He decided to turn it down because he decided that he wasn't ready for fame.
A year later, his mother died of colon cancer. Grieved, he moved to New York and tried his hand at theater. After about a year and half, he decided that he was tired of city life. He moved to Forks to be close to his mother's family, who live in the Quiliete reservation. He is, as of now, currently unaware of his extended family's "gift".
Role-Play Sample: James sighed to himself as he climbed out of his car. For the first time since he had moved here, it was sunny out. He had come out to the beach to soak up some sun and to be alone.
Jay walked the shoreline, a guitar on his back. His dark eyes studied the gray water. Summer was here and he knew that most, if not all, of the local kids would be coming down here to have bonfires and just hang out. In fact, he was surprised that there wasn't any around now.
He shrugged to himself and kept walking. The kids were probably all out in nearby Seattle or something. He found a log that was relatively dry and took a seat, pulling his instrument into his lap. He set the case on the sand in front of him and opened it. He pulled out the guitar and set it on his lap. He had to search a moment before finding his pick. He strummed it a few times before picking up a beat and going with it.
